Dr. Kristin Skow

BS, DDS, OMFT

After graduating in 1992 from Spring Valley High School in Spring Valley, WI, Dr. Skow attended The University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire. She earned a bachelor's degree with high honors in biology and chemistry in only 3 years’ time. She then attended The University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in Minneapolis, MN, where she graduated with honors in '99. Dr. Skow is a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS). She is a current member of the American Academy of Physiological Medicine and Dentistry.

Dr. Skow also has completed certification as an Oral Facial Myofunctional Therapist, having done so in the summer of 2020.

Dr. Skow enjoys practicing dentistry and prides herself in being aware of her patients' whole-body health. Airway care is her passion, and she strives to prevent sleep apnea and other breathing issues. Breathing issues can be diagnosed in the mouth first, and Dr. Skow is astute in such diagnoses and treatment for all ages. Proper breathing is of utmost importance in prevention of dental problems, among a host of other health issues.

Treating infants with issues feeding due to tongue and lip ties is something Dr. Skow feels is the most important thing she can do. Treating tongue ties early establishes proper feeding, swallowing, breathing, and ultimately helps to prevent issues such as sleep apnea. Proper breathing leads to proper sleep, therefore kids treated early can avoid a host of health problems including ADHD, anxiety, and bedwetting.

Practicing in her hometown is something she enjoys, as she often sees 4 generations within a family. Getting to know her patients and catering to their needs as she improves their health is what she enjoys most. She is always learning, but to teach others to learn as she has is where she feels she can make the biggest impact in her area of Western Wisconsin and Eastern Minnesota. Collaboration with other health care professionals is something Dr. Skow works toward, as her patients benefit most by collaboration of all specialties.

In her spare time, she enjoys family time! Her favorite activities are surfing in the summer, and snowmobiling in the winter.

Missy Sinclair

Hygienist/Myofunctional Therapist

I feel blessed practicing side by side with extraordinary, highly educated team members who value our patients care as top priority. Since graduating in 2002 with presidential honors, I have enjoyed many aspects of my career. My overall mission is to educate patients while offering compassionate care without judgment.

I reside in Menomonie with my husband and two daughters. As a family we enjoy being outdoors and active.

Dr. Skow recently welcomed Dr. Soroush Zaghi from the Breathe Institute for a lecture with other health professionals.

Dr. Zaghi provided the knowledge and tools in order to collaborate together so we will be more effective healthcare providers individually and collectively.

Our Team Approach

Dr. Skow feels that post-revision care is important to the success of the revision. Essentially, the baby must learn how to use his or her tongue in a new way. Some babies need no help at all and immediately breastfeed post-procedure, while other babies may need help by additional professionals.

  • An International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) can help improve latch, provide suck strengthening exercises, and develop a feeding plan to address issues of latch, nipple healing, and low milk supply.

  • A speech or developmental feeding therapist can help babies learn to use their tongues for more effective eating and speech.

  • A craniosacral therapist or chiropractor can help babies to release tight muscles that have compensated for a tight frenulum or improper suck.
